Ten trade groups now have bragging rights that could help them score big when it comes to recruiting and retaining top employees.

The groups are winners in the first “Best Manufacturing Associations to Work For” awards. Staff at these organizations, in anonymous surveys, reported high marks for engagement and satisfaction.
Deborah Hamlin, CEO of the Irrigation Association, said she “absolutely” plans to use her group’s award in recruiting.

“It will be at the bottom of every position description for at least the next couple of years,” she said.

The Council of Manufacturing Associations, a membership group of the National Association of Manufacturers, launched the program as a way to highlight the sector as an attractive place to work. CEOs of participating groups can also see the anonymous responses to gain insight into the current workplace culture and possible areas for improvement.
