A big part of Dave Bauer’s job has been—and will continue to be—trying to steer around gridlock. As the new CEO of the American Road & Transportation Builders Association, one of his top priorities will be persuading Congress to finally find a source of revenue to fund many tens of billions of dollars in new highway construction and other infrastructure projects.
Bauer, now executive vice president for advocacy at ARTBA, will be promoted to the top job Jan. 1. He succeeds Pete Ruane, who earlier announced his intention to retire Oct. 31 after 30 years with the $17 million-revenue group.
