When the U.S. Supreme Court struck down the federal ban on sports betting last year, accolades flowed to Sara Slane, senior vice president of public affairs at the American Gaming Association. The lobbyist was a key player and also a public face in bringing together stakeholders to push for legal and regulated gambling on sporting events.
In February, Slane was named to Sports Business Journal’s “40 Under 40” list as one of the most influential voices in the business of sports.
“I never set out in my young adult life thinking I would end up in the casino industry,” Slane told CEO Update. “But it’s incredibly dynamic, interesting and complex, and I love public advocacy.”
