Are associations endangered?

A whole host of modern realities and trends loom over the traditional association business model, and experts acknowledge a potential existential threat.

No-fly advocacy? Some groups ground annual lobby days in D.C.

Some associations are rethinking the value proposition of thier fly-ins or even ending the yearly tradition.  The National Recreation and Parks Association held its last fly-in in 2014. "We did have some folks say they really enjoyed coming to D.C., but once we explained to them how and why we were doing this, they really took to it," said NRPA's Kevin O'Hara.
