The Education Market Association has sold its annual EdSpaces conference to events producer Emerald Exhibitions, the Silver Spring-based group recently announced.
Consider joining CEO Update. Membership gives full access to the latest intelligence on association management, career advancement, compensation trends and networking events, as well as hundreds of listings for senior-level association jobs.
EdSpaces is an event for professionals who design, build, equip and manage learning environments like classrooms. More than 2,600 people attended 2019 conference in Milwaukee, Wis. The 2020 event was moved online because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The terms of the sale were not disclosed, but EDmarket said it will continue to sponsor and support the event. Three association staff who worked on the conference have joined Emerald as part of the deal.
In a statement, EDmarket said the sale supports the board of director’s efforts to refocus on improving membership value and enhancing growth and opportunity for the education market.
“Moving forward, EDmarket will be able to continue its 105-year history as a key resource and connector to the education marketplace,” EDmarket CEO Jim McGarry said. “We are excited to work with the Emerald team to deliver the high-quality content the industry has come to expect.”
Corporate Solutions of Westport, Conn., advised EDmarket in arranging, structuring, and negotiating the transaction.
