Veteran association leader Mark Golden has been hired as CEO of the $23 million-revenue Washington, D.C.-based American Association of Clinical Chemistry, effective Aug. 17.

Golden has been the executive director and CEO of the $11 million-revenue, Alexandria, Va.-based National Society of Professional Engineers for the past seven years. He will take on a well-established AACC following the retirement of Janet Kreizman, who has led AACC for seven years.

“One of the things that was attractive to me is they have a very clearly articulated strategic plan,” Golden told CEO Update. “They have a very competent and tenured executive approaching retirement. I get the pleasure of stepping into a group that knows where it’s going and is just looking for somebody to pick up the baton and help them get there.
