At least one association has found its apprenticeship program to be a much-needed shot in the arm after the COVID-19 pandemic hit its events revenue.
The Wireless Infrastructure Association received a multimillion-dollar contract from the U.S. Department of Labor in September to expand its Telecommunications Industry Registered Apprenticeship Program. The goal, according to DOL, is to enable WIA to assist employers in developing more than 600 apprentices in the next year as the wireless industry transitions to fifth-generation, or 5G, networks.
