Brown to leave American Diabetes Association
Tracey D. Brown will return to the corporate sector after leading the American Diabetes Association for three years as CEO. She departs ADA Oct. 6 to become president of retail products and chief customer officer at Walgreens. Before joining $165M-revenue ADA in June 2018, Brown was SVP of operations and chief experience officer at Sam’s Club, a division of Walmart.
“Under Tracey’s leadership, the ADA has grown in every dimension. We have transformed in the middle of a pandemic and emerged even stronger,” John Schlosser, board chair, said in a statement. “She leaves the ADA a much better organization with a strong leadership team and staff in place.”
Three members of ADA’s senior staff will form an interim office of the CEO: Chief Scientific and Medical Officer Robert Gabbay, Chief Development Officer Charles Henderson and CFO Charlotte Carter. The board plans to hire an executive search firm to immediately begin looking for Brown’s successor.
