Green building group announces CEO transition
Mahesh Ramanujam will step down as CEO of the U.S. Green Building Council, the organization behind the LEED rating system, effective Nov. 1. He will also step down as CEO of Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI) and Arc Skoru, a technology company affiliated with the council and GBCI. Ramanujam has been with USGBC for 12 years and CEO for the past five years.
Peter Templeton, CEO of the Cradle-to-Cradle Products Innovation Institute, will be interim CEO while the board conducts a search for Ramanujam’s successor. Templeton had previously worked 18 years at the USGBC, including as the first president of GBCI from 2009-2012, before stepping down as SVP of global market development in 2018. USGBC also announced a review of its “structure, go-to-market strategy and leadership.” In a post on the USGBC website, Ramanujam said he had “decided to chart my next professional chapter.”
