Clarity essential in avoiding roadbumps in website redesign

Hiring a company to redesign your website doesn’t need to be a painful experience. The key is being clear about what you want upfront while still leaving enough flexibility to incorporate features you may not have thought about, according to two website developers who work with associations.

“One of the mistakes I see is associations come and they say, ‘This is exactly what we want.’ It doesn’t leave much room for the creativity and expertise of the consultants,” said Bruce Namerow, CEO of Interactive Strategies.

“My recommendation is to come in and outline, ‘Here are all the things that our site does and here’s all the things we want it to do,’ but allow room for the consultant to help them see what they don’t know and learn the possibilities that perhaps they hadn’t thought of,” he added.
