DeFife to head glass group

Former plastics association lobbyist jumps into his first top executive role

Scott DeFife will become president of the $2.3M-revenue Glass Packaging Institute Aug. 19.

DeFife has been VP of government affairs for the Plastics Industry Association since June 2017. Previously, he led policy, government affairs and communications as EVP at the National Restaurant Association. He was also senior managing director of government affairs at the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association.

Earlier in his career, DeFife was senior policy adviser to Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), before the congressman was House Majority Leader.

He has a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Texas at Austin.
