The dual careers of Nick Evans—association staffer and internet cook—don’t usually overlap. But the founder of cooking website Macheesmo.com brought both roles together during the Intellectual Property Owners Association’s virtual annual meeting.
IPO hosted themed networking discussion groups each day during the September meeting, ranging from professional topics to favorite books and podcasts. As operations manager for IPO, Evans oversees the group’s website and database functionality. But a colleague familiar with Evans’ passion for cooking suggested a session on kitchen tips.
“We were trying to figure out … ways that we could connect people through interests,” Evans said. “And cooking was a super-natural one because a lot of people are cooking and everybody always has questions about what recipes they’re trying.”
