Suzanne Clark will soon become the first new face to lead the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in 24 years—as well as the first woman—but she is no stranger to the business group.
Peers laud Tom Donohue's legacy
Clark has a long history with the Chamber and an even longer history with outgoing CEO Tom Donohue. The incoming CEO spent nine years at the Chamber before leaving for another job, returning in 2014 to step into a new role specifically created for her. She has worked with Donohue since his pre-Chamber days leading the American Trucking Associations and has remained one of his closest confidants. The Feb. 9 announcement about the transition said Donohue “will continue to serve the Chamber in an advisory capacity.”
