How do you turn a sprawling, decommissioned Cold War-era Strategic Air Command base into a museum?

That’s where the field of experiential graphic design comes in. In fact, it remains among the responsibilities of Cybelle Jones, CEO of the Society for Experiential Graphic Design.

Jones was a partner in the museum planning and design firm Gallagher & Associates before taking the SEGD position in May 2020. One of her jobs at the firm was to help conceive the National Cold War Center in the vast, bunkered landscape of the former Eaker Air Force Base in Blytheville, Ark., not far from the Mississippi River.
