The Endocrine Society announced the departure of Barbara Byrd Keenan on Feb. 5, abruptly ending her fourth turn as an association CEO. The group did not say why she left.
Keenan joined the Endocrine Society in 2014 after having previously led three organizations: the Institute of Food Technologists, the Community Associations Institute and Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals. A longtime figure in the association community, she was named CEO Update’s Professional Society CEO of the Year in 2019 by a panel of association executives, recruiters and members of the association community.
The Endocrine Society credited her leadership with a number of accomplishments, such as accelerating its global engagement, repositioning its suite of publications, implementing a new strategic plan and forging many new strategic partnerships.
