Korn/Ferry promotes Nels Olson

Nels Olson, managing director of Korn/Ferry International’s Washington office, has been promoted to managing director of the Eastern region and the firm’s New York office. 

A press release provided by the company said the promotion is effective immediately.  Olson, 40, succeeds Charles W.B. Wardell III, 60, who was named a senior client partner and will be based in the Stamford, Conn., office.

Olson will continue to run the Washington DC office and split his time between the Capital and New York. 

Olson is a 14-year veteran with Korn/Ferry and previouly worked in public relations for Fleishman-Hillard, Inc.  He also served on the staff of the White House in the Office of Presidential Personnel. 

Olson has been the leader on several high-profile association searches in the past year, including placing Marion Blakey, former administrator at the Federal Aviation Administration, to lead the Aerospace Industries Association in November.  He also led the search to place Christopher W. Hansen, a senior executive with AARP, as the next CEO of the American Electronics Association, and Michael D. Gallagher as president of the Entertainment Software Alliance.
