Soon after the National Association of Manufacturers and The Manufacturing Institute launched a ribbon campaign in March promoting the COVID-19 vaccine, the Academy Awards production team reached out to place a rush order.
“They saw us online. We were clearly optimized for search. And they were looking to help spread the message of the importance of the COVID-19 vaccination to their crew and to folks who were watching the Oscars,” said Chrys Kefalas, NAM’s vice president of brand strategy.
More than 500 lapel pins with an image of a yellow and red ribbon were delivered to Hollywood just days before the April 25 Oscars. But no one at NAM or MI knew who would wear the pins or whether they’d appear on camera, Kefalas told CEO Update.
