A group of publishing industry associations has banded together to provide members with more health insurance options without running afoul of the Affordable Care Act.
The Book Industry Health Insurance Partnership was formed last year by 10 organizations representing authors, independent publishers and other publishing industry sectors. The partnership is working with LIG Solutions, a division of insurance adviser Lighthouse Insurance Group. At its most basic, BIHIP is a referral service, with participating associations directing members to insurance options created by LIG. In return, LIG pays the associations for their marketing efforts.
