The American Veterinary Medical Association will get back into the business of offering association health plans later this year, making it the latest group to push ahead with health coverage even as the legality of such programs is being weighed in federal courts.
AVMA announced July 1 that it would offer employer-based AHPs in nine states starting in September. The association previously offered an individual-based AHP, which it ran for nearly 50 years before the passage of the Affordable Care Act made the program and others like it unfeasible.
