Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America is suing Oregon over two new state laws meant to curb rising prescription drug prices, Oregon Public Broadcasting reported Wednesday.

The first law requires drug companies to inform the state's Department of Consumer and Business Services about the prices of prescription medications and the costs associated with developing and marketing those drugs. The second requires those same companies to notify the agency 60 days ahead of any substantial increases in drug prices.

In a statement, PhRMA General Counsel James Stansel said while there is no doubt people are struggling with drug prices, the two laws were unconstitutional.

"It is our hope that these misguided and unconstitutional policies are put aside so that we can instead focus on reforms that will actually help people better afford their medicines, such as capping out-of-pocket costs, making monthly costs more predictable and sharing negotiated savings on medicines with patients," he said. http://bit.ly/36xImKP
